Why you should use a Passport Wallet

A leather passport holder, such as our Slim Passport Wallet, is a great way to keep all of your important documents organized and together while you travel. If you have your regular wallet, plus a boarding pass, plus a vaccination card that may or may not fit in your regular leather wallet, you have a lot to remember. With a passport holder, you can organize everything in one place. Plus, it just looks nicer. Many people think a passport holder is only for people who travel a lot, but that's not true. If you are carrying your passport with you, why not do it in class? Plus, when you pull your boarding pass out of this, you will surely get bumped up to first class.

Materials in the Full-Grain Leather Passport Wallet

When you trust something as important as a passport holder, you do not want the maker to go cheap. You can go to the mall all day and get a cheap personalized passport cover, but it is just that, cheap passport covers. We design this to keep your belongings safe in other countries. With a passport pocket, internal card slots, and RFID blocking technology, you can get to your hotel safe and sound with your travel documents and cash. We do this with everything we make, so it makes sense that we would make something so important.

Leather

This leather passport wallet was constructed with full-grain leather. All leather has grain, tough fibers, and pores in the top part of the hide. Most companies pay less for the leather that has had a lot of the grain shaved off to get rid of scars and blemishes of the leather, but in doing so, they shave off the grain, which is the toughest part of the hide and what makes a leather passport wallet so durable, get a nice patina and be super water-resistant. It's like the shaved off the shingles from your roof. When they remove some of the grain, it's called top grain leather. When they remove ALL of the grain, it's called genuine leather. And they do it to save leather while taking away the strength of the wallet and durability of the leather. Leather is expensive, and they don't want to waste any of it because of a scar or bug bite. It's why this full grain leather passport wallet is more expensive than some cheap passport case.

Lining

We line this leather passport wallet with pigskin, which is tougher than the cow leather. It's why we feel comfortable offering a 100-year Warranty.

Thread

We sewed it with our really strong German marine-grade polyester thread. It's the only thread they sew parachutes and ship sails with. So if your life depends on it, use Polyester thread.

Passport Wallet with RFID Blocker

And for extra security, we put a thin layer of RFID (Radio Frequency ID) blocking material between the pigs and the cow. This is to stop low life scumbag thieves from scanning your leather passport wallet in a crowd and stealing your identification from the cards in your passport wallet. The RFID chip on the front of the passport itself is harder to scan because it's a different frequency. So keep your data safe with this RFID blocking technology; these are travel essentials.

Passport Wallet Design

The reason customs agents and cashiers will compliment you on your leather passport wallet is that the full-grain leather ages so nicely. I designed it to stay slim and flat when it's stuffed full by putting only two even credit card pockets to stack your cards, business cards on one side and personal cards on the other. Because you stack them, there aren't layers of leather adding thickness between each card. And it stays flat in the two interior pockets. The size is wide enough to fit a couple of passports comfortably, and yellow cards or uncomfortably fit four passports, but only two securely. It seems simple, but it is a very well thought out leather passport wallet.

More than a Leather Passport Holder

You are taking a trip out of the country, you might even do this all the time, but most people don't. Either way, you have the best travel gear, luggage, bag, money, passports, boarding pass, and other important documents. You review your flight, hotel, and everything you can to make your next trip the best it can be. You do not want to trust that the trip will not get ruined by a low-quality passport case with a snap closure that just broke and dumped your documents. It will not happen at a convenient place, and you show up at your hotel with nothing. Our passport wallet is exactly what you need for quality and extra security. Oh, and it smells great and will always work correctly, for at least 100 years anyway.

Excellent...

This is an awesome addition to the briefcase or just to keep in your pocket. It will hold a mini composition book (4.5" x 3.25") and several business cards. As always, highest quality from a company that cares about their customers. Highly recommend!!

Great Addition

Just returned from from over two weeks vacationing in Europe. fits and matches perfectly with my tank back[ack and secured in outer side pocket. may be overkill for a passport cover but i will never need another one! my wife has a designer calfskin cover lined in satin from a high end department store and it is already showing signs of wear! Dave once again, a beautiful durable and useful product!

Very Good Wallet

Mine is in chestnut and I have had it for a little over a year and it is a very good wallet. It is not heavy and empty it weights 4oz and with my passport and cards it is only 7.8oz.

You can put 5~7 cards in each of the card pockets however mine do not have raised numbers so that can go down if you have many cards with raised numbers and alternating them so the numbers are not all on the same side can minimize the lost of capacity.

With the card pockets you can't carry dozens of cards and forces the clutter down as 10~14ish is about the most I find that I need to carry. Anything further such as rewards cards you can put your phone number in at the store or add it a digital wallet which is what I have done..

The longer pocket behind the card pockets is also handy to put a few extra cards or other important small documents that you will not be pulling out frequently. The video on the product page shows you can put a passport there however when I put it there it was a bit tight so I would stick to one passport and just trust others to hold onto their own and maybe send them to the link to this wallet to get before the trip.

The outside ticket pocket? is handy to keep receipts stored until I get home and traveling you can fold your tickets and put them there so they are accessible but not floating around in your pocket. The video on the product page also notes about putting a passport there and it fits comfortably however I would recommended to just use it for receipts and ticket to not advertise where you put your passport if someone just sees the outside of it.

It does have some wear from the passport pocket flap on the opposing side with he cards but nothing unexpected.

The cash pocket is pretty deep and due to having to be a little more than the height of the passport it should be able to take a variety of different currencies but I have not traveled where I have to test that. You do have to travel light on bills in it as I put a small stack of US bills in and it did make it harder to close so if you have to have to travel with a lot of money larger denominations or having most of it in another locations/stashed and just having a little walking around money in the wallet is recommended. 99% of all of my transactions are digital so it is not a factor for me.

I have a Saddleback valet tray and it fits in it well with a little space above the wallet in the tray for a pen and some space on the side to fit other things like ear buds, a small set of keys, glasses, ect.

I keep mine in my shirt pocket mostly but fits well in my front pants pocket as long as the pockets are deep enough. It does fit in my rear pants pocket so it should be fine there as it has to stay flat however I don't use that pocket so I do not have any feedback for it there.

I did catch the ticket pocket flap once in a pocket and folded it back so it did get a little wrinkling on the surface at the angle where it folded however with handling over time you can't really notice unless you know what to look for. The leather behind the ticket pocket has the impression of the edge stitching of the flap which is expected however the leather protected behind it looks just as good as the rest of the wallet with a year plus of use.

I have nicked and scrapped it a little bit over the last year however most of it you can't see over time with some handling without looking closely and nothing stands out as a something unpleasant to the eye.

I tried the RFID once to scan a credit card and it did not pick it up so it seems to be working however I have not tested it repeatedly or frequently.

Slim Leather Passport Wallet

This passport wallet is exactly what I have been looking for to keep items like my passport of course, but also international drivers permit, immunizations card and also my passport card. I can’t wait to see how the patina develops as it develops its character from use. The leather is free from any blemishes, the stitching is tight and even, and it just feels like quality. It will be a perfect companion for when I purchase the Flight Bag Leather Briefcase. I highly recommend this passport wallet.

Best passport cover

I travel a lot, mostly for work, and used different passport covers in previous years. I just received this one in chestnut and it is wonderful. Fits two passports, yellow fever vaccination booklet, some cards, and still has room leftover for boarding passes. Built to last, amazing leather smell, I’m already looking forward to my next trip. Thanks Dave and team!

Leather Passport Wallet

I ordered this passport wallet back in June for a trip to Niagara Falls in Ontario Canada. I was looking for an easy way to carry my passport, credit card, driver license, and cash, without loading my pockets down. Found just what I was looking for. This was my first purchase from Saddleback Leather Company, and after reading the detailed about-page for the wallet, decided to take a chance. Boy was it the right one! The leather is great quality. Nice and thick (but slim), with a great smell, and room for a passport, multiple cards, and local cash. The pig skin lining on the interior is nice too. Saddleback Leather Co. will be my first choice for leather purchases from now on. Great job guys!

Not just for Passport!

Bought it in slightly older version, one without the place for banknotes. It doesn't actually matter though. I use it for daily use, having added band of elastic inside to keep notepad and wide rubber band outside to keep all of the stuff (notepad, loose papers, pen) together. I was thinking of getting Midori's Traveller's Notebook, but this is so much better! If only Dave decided to make it a little taller...

The perfect travel passport wallet

So...i'm reading some of these reviews and I don't get it...this is a TRAVEL wallet for your PASSPORT NOT cash...The "cash" section is for other travel documents or cards or whatever, this isn't supposed to replace your CC or Cash wallet its a Passport holder. I've used this to Europe twice, London, Canada and will use it for all my passport travel needs. Holds a ton of stuff. Some people said it needs a sleeve instead of a flap and i dont agree...every customs officer that has looked at and stamped my passport wants the passport out of the wallet completely( (i had one angry customs officer send me to the back of the line because i didnt hear his ask me to remove it from the wallet) :) Anyway, its the perfect combination of form and function...for me.

Great for Travel - Even Better for Home!

Man, I'm a Saddleback junkie. Every time I visit the site I think about what's next. Must resist... not! Just gotta decide what's next. I've two Saddleback wallets - the small bifold wallet and the passport wallet. First things first - most guys carry way too much junk in their wallets. The bifold wallet forced me to really go light weight. I used that one for about a year and only got the passport wallet out when traveling. I came home from a trip not to long ago and said to myself, "Self, you know, there's no reason to not use this passport wallet as your everyday wallet." I carry two credit cards, a transit pass, a driver's license, a few business cards and some cash. And it is absolutely the most comfortable wallet I have EVER carried. I had gotten to the point (even with the bifold) where my wallet in my back pocked was just too thick. I routinely got in the car and then took the wallet out. The passport wallet is slim enough to be completely unnoticeable in my rear pocket when wearing jeans. I put it in my computer bag or jacket pocket if I'm dressing up. I've had this passport wallet for a few years ago and it was still rather stiff and had that new leather/new wallet thing going. No longer. Wear it around for a few weeks with a pair of blue jeans and it'll feel like an old friend. It's counterintuitive, yet it really is a much better fit than a typical bifold wallet. Ironically the Saddleback bifold that I carried for a couple of years still had that big piece of leather feel. The passport wallet is 'da bomb. Anyhow, I like it. You guys have great products and I get questions about them all over the world.

Oh no!

A few weeks ago I purchased two (one carbon/black, one brown) of the no longer available, Passport Sleeves. They were Christmas gifts for the two men in my life who "Don't need" anything - my big brother & my boss/friend. I had wrapped the one for my brother & had it under our tree. Last night my husband came to me with a small piece of leather and scraps of wrapping paper in his hand :o The only witness to what happened to the Passport Sleeve is one of our two dogs! Neither of which have chewed - other than their own toys - a thing since they were puppies, seven and eight years ago.

I'm not sure why the sleeve was discontinued. I think it's the perfect accessory; especially for someone who doesn't need to carry their passport "every day" but when they do - it looks very impressive :) It's like all of our other Saddleback items; smells wonderful, high quality and made to last - just don't put it under the tree if you have dogs!!

Must have traveling accessory

I bought this wallet a few years back to help me manage my passport and some credit cards, foreign currency etc when I travelled. I never realized that it had enough room for more passports. We now carry four passports, a couple of credit cards, insurance cards and at least 15-20 currency bills. There are times when we do tend to use a rubber band to hold loose documents together in it (especially kids birth certificate documents, boarding passes, customs paperwork etc. and it can hold all of this without a sweat. The wallet still looks like new and might have stretched a little bit in the pockets that hold the passports but it's certainly not loose enough where things can fall off. At the time of purchase, it might have seemed frivolous but recently, our backpack got drenched in a downpour and thanks to this wallet, the passports were intact. It's certainly worth the money....

Best Passport Wallet

I've had my passport wallet (in Chestnut) for almost two years now. It's traveled with me to China 4 times and Europe once. When I go overseas it's my only wallet I bring. It has my passport, a few credit cards, drivers license, and any cash I may be carrying. It holds the bigger foreign bills, and I put my receipts and boarding passes in the pockets. It can get a little thick (it starts out "Saddleback thick"), but no worries. I carry it in my front pants pocket, and the edges are really starting to conform, while it is also developing a patina that just keeps looking better. There ain't no way you can wear this out. If you're looking for some thin Italian-style leather wallet that doesn't make much of a bulge in your pocket, this isn't it, but if you want a wallet that looks great and you'll never need to replace it, look no further. Expect to hear compliments from hotel desk clerks.

Great Travel Wallet

Needed a wallet that could hold me and my girlfriends passports and travel documents for our one month Euro trip. I couldn't find anything that fit the bill until I stumbled upon your passport wallet, from the pictures the wallet looked to big to be comfortable for the entire trip but I decided to get it anyway. I ordered it in tobacco brown and I'm glad I went with my gut decision and ordered this excellent wallet, yeah its big but not bulky. It held all of our travel documents, Euro's, Passports, etc. It took a hell of a beating on our trip and still looked like new. This will be the only wallet we will need or be using on our future travels around the world. If your looking for a Travel wallet or want a big wallet for everyday use look no further.

Great, rustic quality wallet

Bought this as a "test sample" to see what the famous Saddleback quality is. Was not disappointed. Have it in dark coffee brown which is a gorgeous color and will probably order other stuff to match.

The leather seems bullet-proof and the stitching is top notch. The edges are unfinished (i.e. not burnished with beeswax or anything) mind you, but this goes well with the rugged & rustic look of it. Fits my passport just fine (duh), as well as 7 cards in the card slots and my vaccination notebook in the slot. Will do a quick YT review as well.

Will definitely be buying more. Highly recommended.

Simple but effective

Has room for large bills and all documentation needed for travel. I had my drivers license, two credit cards, fat stack of bills, photocopies of ID, flight information, rental car information, hotel information, boarding passes and my passport with plenty of room left over. It's big, but not bulky and its worth the small hassle of carting it around to have everything right were you need it. Very handy and well made.

Multi-Purpose Wallet

What an excellent wallet! Originally bought this for travel purposes and it eventually replaced my everyday one. The leather is thick and strong enough to withstand daily use. I have used this wallet in chestnut for over 3 years and each time I open it, I feel I have bought something worth while; the quality is superb. The best part is it has several key areas which I can use. When traveling the passport is in it's sleeve with the boarding pass on the outside one. In everyday use it holds a small notepad and receipts. The other sleeves hold the credit cards and currency respectively. It even has enough space to clip on a small pen and still feel comfortable in the back pocket.

Passport Wallet, Black Drawstring Backpack (6 of 10), Black Tank (1 of 10), Folios.

My recent purchase of the Slim Leather Passport Wallet was my fourth - this one for myself. I previously purchased one for my son (Navy pilot / United pilot), one for our son-in-law who travels for business and with our daughter and granddaughters; and one for my wife to be given to her in planning for our major trip.
I have a craftswoman who laser engraves wood-working projects I make, so I had her laser engrave the Wallets, with each person's name. For my own, I added my firm logo. See photo.
I checked out ability to put multiple passports in the Wallet. Four for our son-in-law's would be snug but doable. Two would definitely fit. I like the pockets for the Passport Card, credit cards, etc.; larger pocket behind those; and the large back pocket to hold larger paper such as currency, etc. The Wallet is larger than my normal billfold, which I usually put in my back pants pocket, so, I'm figuring out my best use for daily needs not involving carrying a passport. It would fit great in a suit coat or jacket pocket, or in my Tank. My wife prefers paper boarding pass versus iPhone pass. So the backside pocket will be great for her to slip her paper pass into - for when we get to fly to visit grand-daughters again. I previously gave her a Black Drawstring Leather Backpack (6 of 10) for her use as an airline carry-on bag and book bag as she teaches at the local university. The passport Wallet will function nicely with her carry-on Drawstring. I previously snagged 1 of 10 Black Tank for myself. I use it daily for my office brief bag. And also as my airline carry-on. My new Passport Wallet will also function nicely in conjunction with my Tank. BTW - I have a nice travel mug (Klean Kanteen) which fits perfectly in the outside pocket of the Tank - and goes through security fine with the lid off, to be refilled past security. As a daily brief bag the Tank works super. I sling it over my right shoulder on a daily carry. When going distances, like in an airline terminal trek, I use both straps and wear like a backpack. It holds my folio in the back sleeve, my MacBook Pro in the front pocket, charger cords etc in one outside pocket, my mug in the other. And much space for files.
If you purchase a Saddleback product and are interested in laser engraving, contact me and provide your contact info.
Further Cudos to Saddleback - I have purchased a number of folios and given them as corporate gifts to friends / clients, both the large and medium. Saddleback has provided consistent quality, and functionality. The recipients universally appreciated the gift and the quality of the gift. I looked for a number of years for a corporate gift for special clients, and found a high percentage of cheap quality product on the market. When I found Saddleback I knew I had found the product I wanted to put my logo on. Of course, it doesn't come cheap and I need to be judicious about how many I purchase. But, the recipients know and appreciate they are in select company with the gift. Mark Hanson - Des Moines, IA
