Front Pocket Leather Satchel

Loved it the first time I received it in 2023. It got stolen a few weeks ago so I ordered a second one and still love it. It is very well-built and will probably outlast me.

I own a number of Saddleback Leather products and am generally delighted with them all. But in terms of my everyday needs, and “personal item” travel needs, this bag is perfect. I had heretofore been using the smaller satchel, but this one is the perfect size allowing me to carry the iPad Pro, cords, adapters and some books as necessary. Exceedingly well built, attractive and the most functional bag I have. Thank you.

This bag holds my iPad Pro with a Slim Folio keyboard case, an A5 notebook, a couple,of fountain pens and a couple cables; exactly what I purchased it for. We’ll built, too.

I love this bag – perfect for holding an iPad, along with the usual stuff in a purse. The back outside pocket is particularly handy – it's where I keep my mask.

I bought this satchel for my wife, who has had many bags/satchels/you-name-its throughout the years. Not one had the exact right size. Most were too big, some too small. And so she decided to make her own satchel in the exact right size. It was her favourite for many years until it came apart at the seams...
And then we/she found this satchel on the internet and to our big, big surprise this one, too, had the exact right size... Amazing! And wonderful!
And so I decided to buy this beauty as a birthday present.
The satchel was in Texas USA, we are in The Netherlands. A problem? Not at all: our parcel came whooshing across the Atlantic within 2 days... Really super speed!
My wife is very pleased with this satchel: it’s the most beautiful satchel ever, made of strong and sturdy leather and... of the exact right size...

Wonderful bag that’s perfect for light weekends when a larger bag isn’t required.

This is not my first purchase from Saddleback and I am sure it won't be my last. This satchel is better than expected. It works great for my iPad 11" pro and all the accessories. The quality is unsurpassed. Excellent workmanship! Worth every penny I paid for it!

I own a number of SBL and Love41 bags. I must say that this Tablet Bag totally impressed me with the EXTREME high quality design of not only the bag itself but the strap as well. The bag has compartments but is not limiting whatsoever. It looks so smart worn crossbody, and it is so comfortable to wear. The closure is easy to use, and it is so secure. I got it in Dark Coffee Brown (during the sale)--GORGEOUS -- and I love this bag so much, I may get it in Tobacco (or Chestnut or Black) in the coming months! This bag comes close to being the ultimate perfect bag for me. Keeping in mind that SBL bags are S-O-O-O-O WELL MADE, these bags will last forever!

This bag is perfect and exactly what I was looking for. The bag fits everything I need: book/iPad, chargers, headphones, extra battery pack, and plenty of room to spare.

Amazing quality in an ideal size. I was looking for something I could carry my Bible and a journal and would be rugged and stylish and could be taken anywhere. It’s a great fit for my needs.

It looks great … and it wears better on my shoulder and cross body better than any of my other bags. My EDC is minimal; iPad Pro 11+Keyboard Case, Apple Pencil, notebook+Pens, power supply, cables and some other accessories. It’s the perfect on-the-go bag.

I loved my tablet bag in chestnut so well that I bought another ... this time in tobacco. I grabbed it because it was the only color left in stock at the time. I have to say I was sort of surprised when I got it because it was darker than the picture on the web; it was more a true tobacco, as it is called. But as I used it, it sort of lightened up. In short ... I LOVE it and I can't wait until the carbon and the dark brown are back in stock. I carry my iPad mini in the small front pocket and generally use the iPad compartment as a purse. Of course, the iPad fits perfectly in the large compartment, even in its Saddleback iPad case (which was my first introduction to Saddleback Leather). But this is the PURSE I have been dreaming about for years - not too big, not too small. The bag is incredibly comfortable to carry; the cross-body design distributes the weight so that it doesn't feel heavy at all. I have it adjusted so that my right arm has a convenient resting place, as well. I can't tell you how many compliments I have had on this bag (both colors). Everyone wants to know where I got it! Then they see my matching large wallet ........... :)

My wife got this for me as a Christmas gift and I couldn't be more happy with it. I had been looking for a good everyday carry (EDC) bag to hold all my stuff but couldn't find anything that fit my needs. But this is just perfect.



The quality is top notch and the weight is good without being too hefty. The shoulder pad makes wearing it very comfortable and the bag itself looks great. Currently I have in it a Moleskine, flashlight, sunglasses, keys, wallet, leatherman sidekick, phone, e-cig, batteries and headphones. It fits all of it easily and with room to spare. Best of all it doesn't look like a man purse when carrying it around.

I'm pretty much the Goldilocks of purses. I wanted something not too feminine, not too heavy, not too big, but big enough to carry my planner. It had to handle getting wet or getting banged around without ripping or staining. The cross body option had to be adjustable for my long torso and it had to be quality. Although I've had this bag on my wish list since it came out, I don't have a big budget so this was an investment piece for me. I rewarded myself after reaching a long-term goal. After using it for a few days, I quit looking for anything else. This bag is just right.



I have a SBL Messenger Bag, pouch, and Bible cover that I use as a planner cover, so I knew the quality would be excellent. It works great as a purse. I can fit my planner and wallet easily in the main compartment with accessories in the front pocket. The front strap was a little hard to open at first, but has loosened up with use. My usual color is the Tobacco, but I went with the Coffee Brown on this one and am not disappointed. I'm glad it has the lighter interior. The weight is right for everyday use. The bag will stand on its own, so there is no dealing with a floppy purse. Also, the handle on top works well even if the bag is not latched in front.

I work out of my truck everyday so I'm in and out, on site, or traveling the back roads of Mississippi, I needed somewhere to keep my iPad, iPhone and all the cables and chargers that go with them....Enter, The Saddleback Tablet Bag! I keep my iPad Air 2 in the main pocket along with a composition notebook. iPhone in the rear pocket for easy access, all the cables, chargers, earbuds, pen, pencil, and iPod in the front pouch, with plenty of room to spare! Needless to say this bag will be with me everywhere I go for a long time to come...until my son takes it from me, at which time I will have to buy another or upsize to the Messenger Bag or Briefcase(I actually can't wait for that to happen....).

I just got my new classic tablet bag yesterday. My brother stopped by on his motorcycle and now I am without a classic tablet bag! (What is a sister to do with little brother puppy dog eyes begging, "Pleeeease!") He has been searching for the perfect bag to carry his things when he is on his bike. While he found other bags that function, he was not happy with their durability or style. This bag meets all his needs while not taking his man card for carrying a "murse"! He has a iPad 1st generation in a hard case that slides in and out of the main compartment easily. (He could probably fit two of them in there.) The front pocket has plenty of room for his keys, wallet, and phone.

I own the tablet bag in mahogany with black pigskin lining, and I LOVE IT!!! I now own this bag in tobacco with the suede side interior and love it even more!!!! This is the PERFECT bag for me!!! Size is spot on.... Carries the essentials and then some! I love the matte look of the tobacco, I hope they get some other colors in the "matte" look, it s amazing!!!! And soooo "me"!

This is my first review ever. I just recieved my Classic Tablet Bag today and I LOVE IT. It is the perfect size for us ladies, not too big or heavy. I carry my phone, keys, checkbook, mini iPad, and SBL Front Pocket ID wallet in it and still have room for other items. The mini iPad will fit perfect in the front pocket if you don't have it in a thick case. The straps are just the right length for us short people and the dark chocolate brown is beautiful.

Ok, had the old plasticky leather tablet in tobacco for a year or so. Found out through the grapevine that the soft textured suede like leather was returning. As fast as you can say "yippy skippy!" I put my old one on eBay and ordered one through LIZ in your chat department,(btw she is awesome as they all are putting up with me). Perfect edc for me, lightweight fits a lot and THE NEW LEATHER IS AWESOME! THANK YOU DAVE AND CREW FOR LISTENING YOU GUYS ROCK & DESTROY OUR WALLETS!!

As usual, Saddleback Leather does not disappoint. I use this bag when I travel, and it comfortably holds my Surface Pro 4, Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, iPhone 5s, charging cables for each gadget, hand sanitizer, wallet, and there is still a little room left for a candy bar....Yet it is still small enough to reconfigure quickly to take out for dinner. The inside flat pocket is great for receipts.



The only thing I would change is the length of the strap. It could stand to be about an inch longer. When I have all that stuff in it, the end of the strap only just tucks into the keeper...



A note about the Surface Pro 4...I have a UAG case for it that is kinda bulky. As soon as I got the bag, I put the Surface with the case on it into the bag, and it was a very tight fit. Every night for a week, the Surface with the case lived in the bag. It has since loosened up enough to be able to get it in and out of the bag easily enough, but the case was so thick, I couldn't get much else into the main compartment. I have started taking the case off of it for travel now. Without the case, it fits perfectly in the bag along with the other gadgets.

I bought this for my daughter and it’s perfect for her travel needs.

2014 was a big Saddleback Leather year for me. My first piece was a dry bag, followed a bit later by a front pocket briefcase. Later in the year, I purchased a leather pouch and 3 more dry bags as gifts for friends. Finally, as an end of the year gift for myself, I ordered a business card case and the tablet bag. The tablet bag is yet another outstanding piece of utility, craftsmanship, and art. My wife calls it my man-purse, and I am fine with that. Plenty of space for more than an iPad - room for chargers, plugs, etc. A nice mini alternative to my front pocket briefcase when I don't need to take my laptop with me for the day, but I want my iPad and accessories and still want to be hands free. The business card case is gorgeous, but a tight fit for business cards - I'm sure it will loosen up over time and will allow me to stuff a few extra cards in there soon.



Oh, and I have not mentioned this before in other reviews, but I really appreciate the long shoulder straps with all of the pieces. As a big man, often times shoulder straps make the bag ride up higher than I would prefer. Saddleback's generous straps allow even a big guy like me to wear them cross body like a bandolier and still not ride up to high. Just one more example of the quality and value of Dave's designs!



So far, all of my personal pieces have been in tobacco, the dry bags I gave as gifts were chestnut and black. All the colors are gorgeous, but I am drawn to the tobacco. As I got on the site to right this review, I found myself eyeing the wallets...... hmmmm, maybe a nice large bifold wallet in chestnut would be just the thing to start the new year and add a little color variety to my personal collection.....

I have become something of a minimalist in my middle age and do not want to carry things in my pockets so I have carried a tablet bag for several years. A friend has been talking up saddleback for sometime for a real bag - not the others that just keep wearing out. I got my tablet bag in three days by regular mail. Wow. Opened the shipping box and the smell of leather rushed through the room. I ordered the tobacco after much internal wrestling and I am ecstatic that I did. The bag is beautiful. I don't care if you call it a man purse. All I can say is you wish you had a murse this gorgeous. The quality of the craftmenship is magnificent. The color works for both casual and professional settings. Now for the negatives. I wish I had ordered the messenger or laptop bag. There really is not much more room in the bag but the essentials. Your tablet and cords and that is it. My fault though for not going up a size. My Surface Pro 2 with keyboard is a tight fit. I am hoping that with time the leather will stretch to more easily accomodate it. The exterior pocket, which is what drew me to this bag over the messenger bag, is difficult to get your hands in and prevents me from putting pens and other small items into it. A pen holdler and a key chain hook would be great additions to prevent you from having to fish them out of the bottom of the bag. Despite the negatives I will definitely order another bag.
