    Indestructible (even on purpose)

I had a smaller version of this bag, or a bag similar to this but smaller, from Saddleback. I got it around ten years ago and have used it daily. After ten years it still looks really good. In fact, it looks too good. I prefer a rugged, weathered, Indiana Jones look. Plus it was a little small for my ipad. So I bought this Indiana Leather Satchel because it was a little larger and I bought a finish that looked like it might be conducive to some beating up. The bag came, looked lovely, smelled intoxicating... a thing of beauty. But I had to try to make it mine. So I put a brick inside it and threw it around outside. I dragged through gravel and slid it across pavement. I poured Acetone on it. I rubbed coconut oil into it. I scratched it with sandpaper, a wire brush. I Dremmeled the edges. It looked so cool. I let it dry overnight. And the next morning, I swear to you, it had healed! It looked almost new again. So I spent another day torturing this bag mercilessly. I poured ink on it. I poured espresso on it and let it sit for an hour. I scratched and clawed it with everything at my disposal. I have decided this is the best I can do. You can see the two images. A before and an after. I absolutely love the look of it and in ten years it'll look even better. There is something so cool about knowing you will never need to buy another bag... Unless Apple changes the size of their products by another inch.

    As very practical and beautiful

As very practical and beautiful satchel. Its construction gives it an instant image of high quality and durability. I recommend it to anyone.

    Fantastic bag. Period.

Seriously indestructable, beautiful bag. The quality is second to none, and I've been a long-time Filson customer...this bag out-qualities their stuff hands-down. But...(there's always SOMETHING, right?)... I just wish it was a smidge taller to better accommodate my iPad pro 12.9. The device fits, but it causes the cover flap to sit higher, which in turn causes the top handle to be shifted backwards. Not really a problem per se, just a small adjustment that could add to this already-fabulous piece of leatherwork. If I were doing it over, I would get the 'Thirteener' for better iPad fit while maintaining a relatively small overall profile.

    The Europe/Abroad Traveler

This is my new best friend when traveling abroad. The DCB goes great with my beat up Rimowa Topas luggage, it gives the appearance of the seasoned traveler look, with a minimalist touch. This smal satchel holds all my basic needs when traveling, my big wallet, the coin holder, passport, sun/eyeglasses and other misc items. Besides you don’t want to put to much in it or then it becomes too heavy even as a crossbody. So fellow travelers go ahead and pull the trigger on this bag, you won’t regret it... I can’t wait for my next trip to wear it....oh yeah be prepared for the compliments galore from all walks of life young and old. Next purchase will be the water bag or one of the other duffels, can’t decide which one I want. That’s why these reviews are so important, it helps with decision process. Thank you Dave and keep of the good work.

    Dark coffee brown --

I'm a 5'5'' female who is enjoying the bag. I like the dark coffee brown but wonder about the other colors. It was hard to pick. I mainly use the bag to hold my big leather wallet (chestnut), sun glasses, phone, charger, ear buds, Saddleback's simple coin purse, and some times water. The two inside side pockets are handy for a pen, pencil, and small field notes. I clip my keys to the D ring where the strap attaches. My phone is usually in the outside back pocket. I feel comfortable wearing the bag when dressed casually. I will caution people that the dcb scratches at the slightest touch. Finally, I wish something could be done about the long "tail" that hangs from the shoulder strap because of where I have it buckled.
