    Me Too

This was my sixth bag purchase from SBL (plus a wallet and including 3 cable bags). I purchased the SMALL WATERBAG from DAVE'S DEALS (15% off) as a carryon alternative. Great bag! I would caution you on the Dave's Deals bags, however. I didn't expect a new bag of course, and there were some clear imperfections in the leather that one could see from more than 3 feet away, which I expected and which don't bother me at all. This bag was a disappointment because the D rings and buckles were foggy, and burnished, and not crisp looking at all. All of them. The hardware looked as if the bag had been on a back shelf for at least 5 years. If I could send it back to get a new small waterbag, or one with better looking hardware, I would, but alas, they don't make them anymore. ALL OTHER ITEMS PURCHASED FROM SBL WERE AWESOME!! Customer service is also the best I've ever experienced.

    Works great as sidecar luggage

I bought the medium tobacco water bag as luggage for the back of my sidecar rig. It fits the rack really well, straps down nice, keeps the dust out, and looks good. Most of the luggage that I looked at just didn't look right for this application and I figure that if leather is good enough to protect me it is good enough to protect my stuff. I couldn't find my roll around bag for a trip to Europe a few weeks ago so I grabbed the water bag. My wife said it would be too heavy and wouldn't carry enough. I'm smart enough to know not to say that she was wrong. Most of what I needed fit in the messenger bag that I use and the little that I did put in the water bag was her extra stuff. The bag rolled up pretty small and it fit in the overhead compartment just fine. We have a deal when we travel: a winery for her, a battlefield or cemetery for me. For the return trip I checked the water bag with all of our dirty clothes and 8 bottles of champagne and was still under the 23 kilo limit. Despite a few more "character marks" on the bags from handling the wine made it without a problem because of the protection of the leather. Going through customs the only comment that was made was "nice looking bag, welcome back to the US". BTW, if you travel to where there is a US military cemetery try to stop and pay your respects. One of them that I visited a couple of years ago had only two US signatures in the guest book in the previous 12 months. You will be rightly humbled by the experience. Thanks

    Beautiful Hunk of Leather.

My 8th purchase from Saddleback, got my large chestnut waterbag off of Dave's Deals. Beautiful patterns and wrinkles with couple of scar marks that gave lots of character and uniqueness, right off the bat. Definitely a conversational piece. Love the quality of the piece so much, I ordered a large chestnut suitcase to match as my travel set. The only con, it is bit heavy. The other reviews mention two liners, one small and one tall which are 4 sided. Mine came with only one, that has support on 2 sides. They must have changed the configuration. Anyways the liner works well, as it reduces the overall weight. Highly recommend this bag for its form and function.

    Awesome, functional Bag

I bought the large DCB waterbag for a few reasons...1) it looks way cool, 2) I wanted something more flexible & easier to use than the side-pocket duffel, 3) I was a big fan of the fact that it came from a single piece of leather. It is huge inside. My 6-year old said he thinks I could put him inside & close it up...nope we didn't try it. The large also comes with a 9-inch high insert in addition to the 6-inch version. Both of the inserts make the bag heavier...but do add structural support. I really see me just filling the bag without the inserts & cranking the straps down. I am slightly concerned about checking it at the airport & scuffing it up or having TSA or the airlines dude steal it. I am considering finding a super cheap, large cloth duffel to go over the water bag when I check it. It also has two D-rings on one end similar to the medium...but it doesn't turn into a backpack like the medium. So you can use those D-rings to lash extra gear, devise a way to attach the bag to a wheeled, collapsible cart, etc. I am sure I'll come up with my own use for them. As mentioned above, I originally got the side-pocket duffel...which is well made & cool too. It just wasn't flexible for carrying all kinds of items easily. It was also too heavy; the waterbag without the inserts is lighter. I ended up turning the duffel into a car supply gear bag in the back of my Shelby GT500. Yep, it is muy expensive. That is why I waited until I saw the one I wanted on Dave's Deals. Heck, if you buy right now you'll get free shipping which will save some add'l coins. My overall recommendation is to get it, use the heck out of it & don't look back.

    Medium Chestnut Waterbag

The most versatile bag that I own and also hands down the most beautiful. At first, I thought this bag was too small when I received the medium in the mail. However, after packing it with 4 pair of jeans, 5 shirts, shaving kit, sweatshirt, shoes, etc. I was suprised I still had room for more. The straps act as compression straps allowing you to tightly pack all your belongings. I prefer to completely remove the liner, I've found it can carry more and is more comfortable when wearing as a backpack. The bag has a different look depending on how you close it, it's fun to find your own way of closing it depending on how much stuff you have in it. The smell of the leather is incredible, you will not be disappointed. The bag in chestnut has more of a classy look and less likely to show scratches than the tobacco, it just depends on what you like. Personally, I would like a Waterbag in all three colors but that would be a little outside my budget. Buy it, you'll love it.
